What gets corrected, and how
| Kind of error | What happens |
|---|---|
| A factual claim that is wrong | Corrected in the next edition; the change is listed below with a date |
| An unsafe instruction | Corrected immediately, even mid-edition, and named as a safety correction |
| A typo or layout defect | Fixed silently in the next printing |
| A disagreement with the argument | Not an erratum. It belongs in the reading, not in this list |
